Please help - part 2...

I've added a couple of links to the right side border. These are links to give donations to the S.E.A. tsunami appeals. The top one is for the UK. The second one is for Unicef - which is global.

Recently I've been realising how fortunate I am. I may not be bathing in cold hard cash or anything - but I'm definitely in a position to give a little back. Once I sort out the house move (I'm having to move house) and cleared my debts - I've decided I'm going to give 10% of my salary to charity each year. There is so much suffering in the world. If my small donations can make even the slightest bit of difference - maybe I'll sleep better on a night.

I don't want to start using this blog for 'political' perposes - and this will be the last blog about the tsunami (and charity) - unless things get even worse.

If you've already donated - thank you. Every penny will help.

Expect the blog to get back to shots of virtual b-hinds soon... I just watched Appleseed - and noticed a nice cell shaded b-hind.

Please help...

(note: For some reason this didn't post yesterday)

I'm sure you've all seen the news, seen the pictures, heard the stories about the tsunami that hit South East Asia on the 26th of December.

At times like this I feel useless, as I'm sure others do. But there is a way to help.

Please donate anything you can afford to the Asia Earthquake and Flood Appeal.

And the winner is...

Feels weird to be working at a company that wins awards. For all the time I was at Argonaut – I can only remember an American parents award thingy for Croc. They probably won more – but nothing springs to mind.

Now I’m at Ideaworks3D and there doesn’t seem to be enough room in the office for all the awards.

Colin McRae Rally 2005 (N-Gage) gets N-Gage game of the year at Gamespot. Congrats to the team.

Sin City...

Wow. Great trailer. I’m a fan of Robert Rodriguez – but been disappointed in his last few films. This has amazing style and a cast to die for, and a personal bedroom list when it comes to the ladies.

Check it out.

Pingu bashing...

Photo evidence that the Tekken team really have lost the plot?

I think so...

So much for the top secret project...

Seems like Nokia showed the game I'm currently working on to IGN earlier this month. First details are here:

Chu Chu Rocket...

The Onion prints the truth once again...

"World's Scientists Admit They Just Don't Like Mice

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND—Nearly 700 scientists representing 27 countries convened at the University of Zurich Monday to formally announce that their experimentation on mice has been motivated not by a desire to advance human knowledge, but out of sheer distaste for the furry little rodents."

Before you die – you see the ring...

The only wise words from the dreadful US remake of Ringu– but words I’ve decided to live by. See – I’m still getting used to the whole ‘single’ thing. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in this situation, and I guess things have changed.

If I see someone I think is cute – I’m finding myself automatically checking fingers for rings. Never had to think of this before. Last time I was single I was 24. Now I’m 33. The game has changed. There is a distinct possibility that someone I might think is cute is married, with kids, etc...

Kinda freaks me out since I still feel the same way I did in my 20’s. Marriage has never really cropped up. A married friend of mine told me it’s cos I have never met ‘the one’. I’d like to believe that’s true and I’m not just some cynic who is paranoid about growing up and ‘doing the right thing’.

Spookie...

I just realised the last 3 posts are all about paper. Weird... and unplanned. Hmmm...

Nic.

Pa-per view...

...wow - I think I really hit rock bottom with that pun. Never mind - for suffering that, here's something cool.

If you live in the UK you might have seen those pretty amazing Orange ads - the one's with the paper guys and bear traps and stuff like that. Genius. Well - now Orange has give you the oppertunity to make your own video with the paper people, including tools to edit it and all that right here:

I've always liked Orange's branding - probably why I'm with them.

"I'll huff, and puff, and blow your house down"...

"Can't we all just - get along"...

You know, I'm just a big peace-loving hippy - and to read a story like this just brings a huge smile to my face:

PANARE, Thailand (Reuters) - Around 50 Thai Air Force planes have "bombed" the largely Muslim south with paper birds as a symbol of peace for the restive region where nearly 500 people have been killed since January.

Villagers stared into the sky on Sunday awaiting the deluge of an estimated 100 million paper birds, one of which was signed by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and carried the promise of a scholarship or a job for the finder.

"You wanna battle - you must be crazy"...

Sometimes when you go searching for something on the internet - it's not aways what it appears to be when it arrives on your hard drive. Normally you think you're downloading Shrek 2 for the kids and it turns out to be "She Squirts Vol. 9" (at which point Dad archives it off for those quiet moments in the office).

Well - that kinda happened today, but instead of a female ejactulation video - I got this:

A Korean B-Boy championship. Now you know I loves me some breakin' - but I've been disapoined with the stuff I've seen in the UK and US lately... this stuff restored my faith.

Click on the pic to see what I mean.

P.S. Now fully expecting a million hits to my site looking for squirting movies. Seems to happen anytime I mention anything slightly lascivious in this blog. Tough luck.

"I (want a) Robot"...

Finally - the world is starting to take shape. Rocket cars must be next. This has to be the coolest thing I have seen all year. Shame my Toyota is a piece of shit...

"I'm an Iron Chef when I slice and dice"...

Was looking at pictures of sushi on the web (don't ask). Realised there's some pretty poorly made sushi out there. So here's some pics of the sushi I made last weekend.

VAT Awards...

It’s amazing to think how fast the world of computer graphics moves. Seems like only yesterday that Pixar gave us a moving lampshade. Today – CGI movies are out grossing live action, and the level of detail found in videogames is about to break into photo realistic.

So maybe in these heady times of limitless artistic creativity, we need to find a benchmark. Something to chart the meteoric rise of rendering technology.

Ladies and Gentlemen – may I present, “The Virtual Ass Test”.

“The Animatrix”

“Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within”

These two images represent the culmination of all the scientists, all the artists, and all the overall visionaries’ hard work.

This is the pinnacle by which all other CGI creations will be judged.

I’ll be sure to keep my eyes firmly fixed on non-existent ladies b-hinds and update you on any major technology leaps, as and when they happen.

Foot wrong...

There’s something horrible about being recognised as a repeat customer at a fast food joint – but that’s what’s happened. The staff at the ‘Subway’ where I work are all warm and friendly to me now. Nothing wrong with that – I encourage some genuine warmth. But it does make me think that I might go there a little too much.

I guess I’ve dropped into a routine. Could be worse – could be the local McDonalds. At least Subway is almost healthy. I guess.

In over news... my foot is screwed.

Nic.

Corporate whore...

I’m trialing some Google ads on the blog. Not sure why – they might stay, they might go. If this particularly offends you – email me.

"I'd buy that for a $"...

Sad sign of the times in the Videogame development world... own your own piece of the now defunct Acclaim right here...

Wonder if there will be a similar thing for Argonaut :(

Maybe I could buy my old desk :)

"I am a teenage grandad"...

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's growing elderly population from will be able to buy companionship in the form of a 45-centimeter (18-inch) robot, programmed to provide just enough small talk to keep them from going senile.

If a person tells Snuggling Ifbot, "I'm bored today," the robot might respond, "Are you bored? What do you want to do?"

Sounds like something I need in my life :)

My life is a living hell...

Well – I might be being over dramatic, but it does boil down to something like this. Where I work in London – the streets are flooded with kawaii nihon-jin. What’s wrong with that Nic I hear, those of you who understand what I just said, say?

Well – it’s London. So everyone has walls up. Everyone is going somewhere. Everyone is totally pre-occupied. London is not a social setting. I can’t just strike up a conversation with someone in the street or they’ll call the police (or something)

I feel like a starving man being held in a cell in the centre of a chocolate factory.

I’m being dramatic again :)

So here’s what I’m thinking. There are always people outside the tube station handing out flyers. I’m thinking about getting some printed up with a nice little bio of me – standing there during my lunch hour and handing them out to the said kawaii nihon-jin.

It’s a good plan – but like I’d ever do it.
