Coffee based horror...

I’m sure any scientists amongst you will be able to tell me what the part of the brain is that stops you from doing things you know will hurt you. Whatever it is – I’m obviously missing it.

Why do I drink coffee in the car? I know it makes me feel sick – yet I keep doing it. Worst is when I’m flying. I seem to always get the hugest coffee I can find on the way to LAX and then spend the rest of the flight in agony and it feels like my guts are about to explode.

I’m an idiot.

Anyway – finally decided to go to the cinema. Got in the car and hit the North. Went to Milton Keynes to see ‘Alien’. Love that movie and although the extended scenes are blink and you’ll miss them – it was good to see it on a big screen. There is one shot just before Brett ‘gets it’ that is killer.

Only problem was I couldn’t stop my mind from wondering. I’d remembered that there is a new music shop (not CD – Instruments etc.) in the same mall as the cinema. By the end of the film I had convinced myself that if they had a Denon DN-S5000 (CD based DJ deck thngy) I was going to buy one.

Luckily for my bank account – they didn’t have any.

So the GF has something planned for tonight (Halloween). No idea what.

What to do?

Ah – the old Friday dilemma. I have to get out of the house cos my cleaner is coming.

So - do I drive down to Edgware and have lunch with my old work buddies, or do I go sit in a cinema all afternoon? There’s not much new on locally. I watched that Texas Chainsaw remake yesterday and nearly fell asleep.

I’m pretty sick to death of ‘deep South’ horror. Surely the Texan tourist department must take issue. I mean this year alone we’ve had, ‘Wrong Turn’, ‘House of a 1000 Corpses’, ‘Cabin Fever’, and ‘TCM remake’.

Now I love a good horror film (Evil Dead, Alien, Glitter), but those being chased by Texan freaks movies just send me off to the land of dreams.

I might go check out the Alien Special Edition. I’ve seen all the extras before on the DVD but I’ve never seen the movie at the cinema (I was too young). Thing is the seats in that cinema are killers. And it’s a bit of a drive away.

So do I just go see Kill Bill once again? Hmmmmmmm.

Oh what a life of leisure I lead.

Man I hate this time of year over here. So cold. So windy. Everybody walks around with a grimace trying to weather the weather. Popped into town to pickup the new Aqualung. Loved his first album. Kinda like the best 'quiet' bits of Radiohead played on piano. Actually that's a lame description.

So I realise now I'm not doing a long journey to work anymore that my driving is getting worse. I used to treat my 45 minute high speed drive to work like a long session of Gran Turrismo. The Celica got a real work out. These days it's all town traffic, which sucks.

Was brousing the second hand games when I spotted a copy of 'Croc'. Man, you can pick it up for £5.54 (about $8). Still it's really old now - I'm sure they don't even manufacture it anymore. I stopped seeing royalties about a year and a half ago. Still 3 Million + units sold. Can't complain.

Overall - been a totally boring day actually... as you can probably tell!!!

Nic.

So I just realised the Dancing Stage Fever is much harder than the Dancing Stage MegaMix. I stuck MegaMix back on after a session on Fever - seemed like a strole in the park (which I'm just about to do).

Don't worry. Pop Idol weekend is nearly upon us. I'll stop taking about DDR soon enough and start talking about that!

Ah - another email that made me smile. Now videos of this kid went around awhile ago when I was working at Argonaut but I can't for the life of me remember where his site is. Anyway: DOWLOAD THIS NOW.

Here's my attempt at busting some rhymes in this cool kids style.

"Kid's a genius. No doubt.
But he got a little penius. I'm out."

Nic.

Man that was fun. I picked up the new DDR (Dance Dance Revolution or Dancing Stage depending on where you live) last Friday and hadn't really play it until today. At first glace I thought the tracks were pretty dumb. Kind skool disko circa 1983 (showing my age). But I tell you what. Stomping on a dance mat to Dexy's "Come on Elene" is actually pretty goddamn fun!

So that's my 30 mins of cardio or whatever... time to freshen up.

Nic.

I very rarely get email that makes me laugh. In the last 12 hours - I've had two. A very funny, witty, one might say pithy throw away comment by a producer/manager I'd been hooked up with. The second from my good friend and musical partner, Andrea Renee Johnson.

This girl can really write. I mean REALLY write. The reason I gravitated toward screenwriting is it's the most functional form for getting a story across. I like characters. I like to tell stories. Can I write? Not like Ms. Johnson that's for sure. Check out her stuff on the 'Blame Honey' EP in the music section of the website. The girl's amazing.

ARRRRGGGHHH!! Woken up at 7:30 by the post man delivering a package. Normally good news cos that means some new 'toys' to play with. However - it wasn't until the mental fog lifted that I realised it was for someone completely different. I've lived here nearly five years and we still get the previous occupants junk mail. But this wasn't junk - this was a Broadband modem. So what do I do? No idea. Why would anyone buy something and send it to an address they lived at 5 years ago?

Here's my theory. They still live here and are ghosts trying to break through into the world of the living by ordering things off of the internet. Or may be it's the otherway around... maybe I'm the ghost - like in The Others...

Still - if no one comes a knocking for the modem - I guess I'll be setting up broadband for my Mum.

I think sales people are ringing me up – just to put the phone down on me. See – there was a time when I’d go through the whole “Sorry I’m not interested” thing. These days as soon as I know it’s a sales call I just hang up.

Now I keep getting calls that just hang up as I answer. You think I’m being given a piece of my own medicine?

Nic.

Do you know how you’re going to die? I believe that we have built in phobias cos they are like pre-programmed warnings of impending doom. For Example: I know I’ll go in a plane crash or falling from a high building. See – I hate flying and I don’t get on that well with heights. Problem is – sometimes they can’t be avoided.

I guess I’m referring to this bit of news I just read:

“ROME (Reuters) - A British woman has died and two other people have been seriously injured after part of an escalator in a Rome train station collapsed and they fell into the cogwheels beneath, police say.

Police said the 63-year-old woman was mangled in the wheels when she lost her footing. Two plates of the rolling escalator were missing, they said on Tuesday.

Two men walking behind the woman were injured when they fell in after her. The first, who tried to save her, may lose a leg. The second injured his hand and is in shock, police said.”

My Mum hates escalators. Now I know why.

BTW: The smokes are still in the trash.

I started smoking again. I have no idea why. In fact - I'm going to throw them in the trash. I started smoking when things got crazy at the old job, but things are more chilled now, so why am I smoking? I've never enjoyed smoking. I used it only to get out of my damn chair. Smoking seems to really drop my blood sugar - I'm feeling crap right now... I'm never going to smoke again... promise.

I'm catching up on the show 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. I know this show is old news in the US.... but I think it only started showing here in the UK (on the arts channel BBC Four of all places). Never watched Seinfeld - found it a bit too broad for me and I didn't really like Seinfeld. I love this show though.

So I'm like THE biggest Pop Idol fan (UK) in the Universe... no really. Since I've been working for me, I've watched every second of broadcast (and probably twice). So what? Well... now Yahoo UK is finally catching up. If you click here:

http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/popidoldiaries/popidol_cont9.html

Then you'll be able to get to know the final 10. Susanne has to win. I miss Kirsty.

What else? Poor Keanu - falling asleep at the Matrix press conf. Takes me back to how I felt watching the first two movies. You know - I can't believe that I'm actually considering watching the 3rd movie when it opens. I guess this is what happens when you can spend your days doing what the hell you like.

KILL BILL rocked my world you know. That movie ran with everything the 'Whack-chow-skis' wished they knew about cinema. Still - look how much money those lame Matrix movies have made. Hollywood is a business after all.

Tarantino rocks the Hizzy. The 'Whack-chow-skis' are done diddy.

Blah blah blah....

Nic.

I keep dropping random crap into my news section so I thought I'd get one of them 'blog' things that everyone seems to have.
