"You just leave me alone"...
I'm beginning to wonder why TV Shows get re-made. Explicitly US-UK/UK-US remakes.I love 'Queer Eye', and I kinda like 'Pimp My Ride'. I watched the UK 'Queer Eye' for a few minutes before declaring it the devils spawn. Last night I saw a bit of 'Pimp UK'. OH MY GOD! Tim Westwood is such a creepy mutha fucker - and like 'Queer Eye', it simply doesn't work.
Reverse of this is 'The Office'. The US one is simple appalling.
So - can anyone think of a remake TV Show that is actually BETTER than the source???
Nic.

Problem with remakes (and you seeing the original) is that it's difficult to dis-associate cast members from the oringinal version. The US Office, the David Brent character was pretty damn cringworthy. But .. hang on .. he was mean't to be. In fact probably more identifiable as being an awful boss. The other characters I thought were pretty funny and as long as you try not to compare with the UK version I think it held up pretty well. I'd want to see a 2nd series. As for remakes, really can't think of any. unless you consider Team America being a remake of Thunderbirds. In which case the former is far better.
I can't think of any remakes which are better. But sometimes, the US/UK versions are different enough to not be associated with each other. I think the UK 'Love Thy Neighbour' and the US 'All in the family' are good examples of this. Even though it was about a racist white guy with black neighbours, the US one had more family members and was better aimed at the sort of issues the US has with it's racism.
I've watched the US 'Queer as Folk' [filmed in Canada], but have never seen the UK version. Some of my gay friends say the UK one is more 'in your face'. I'm not sure if the US version is considered better or worse, as most gay guys I know watch both versions.
[I even got invited to a 'Queer as folk' Party one of my gay friends was throwing. They planned on watching an entire series in one night. I declined. Sounded kind of gay!] :-)
