(I’ll tell you the plot. The kid turns out to be possessed by the spirit Sadako - or whatever she was called in the US version - and Naomi Watts has to get him un-possessed no doubt. Wait – can’t even remember if there was a kid in the US version. Think I fell asleep. They’ll be lots of running around and stuff. Some horses will jump out of a plane this time and parachute to the safety of a Florida retirement home. The video from the first one will be mastered to DVD and region protected so anyone outside the US won’t be able to play it. Naomi Watts will try and copy it back to tape but the macrovision will screw of the signal and she’ll end up dieing. The kid will then go on to drama school where he’ll learn how to act and in Ring 3 he’ll have the staring role, but the twist is by seeing him act in the third movie you will die in seven days. And so you should for watching a remake of a classic Japanese horror movie.)

The US remake of Ringu was about as scary as a night in the Playboy mansion. God knows what they’ll do in the sequel. No doubt completely ignore the original trilogy’s story line. Best thing about the US ‘Ring’ was a staring role by my uber espresso machine in the open scene. My ‘Robot Café’ rocks the hizzy.

On a sort of related note, Naomi Watts was HOT as ‘Jet Girl’ in the terrible ‘Tank Girl’ movie. She was the ultimate super geek. Swoooooon.
