"Give it your best..."

It’s Friday, and as regular readers will surely know – I have to get out of the house on Fridays. This means one of two things. I either go see a movie – or go see my old work buddies.

For the fourth week in a row I descended on Edgware to get some noodle soup and see some friendly faces. Beginning to worry that people think I haven’t ‘moved’ on. Not the case – I love seeing the Argonaut guys (and noodle soup), but also there has been nothing worth seeing at the cinema in the last month.

It’s also a last chance to see my good friend Wayne before he disappears. He quit today, and is going to do some travelling (first Japan – then where ever he fancies next). Also caught up with Alice (ex-Orchid coder), which was nice. I haven’t really had the chance to talk to her since things went bad on the project. Also it was great to have someone to play ‘Dancing Stage’ with.

I think she let me win. There’s no other possible explanation for me winning.

One of the other reasons for my visit was to go check out ‘Carve’ now it’s finished. I was curious to see how the voices came out. Pretty good is the outcome. Some lines are a bit cringe worthy – but when you’re on your twenty sixth iteration of “Congratulations – you’re in the lead!” – things tend to get a little weird. The game looks great by the way. If you have X-Box ‘Live’ then there’s no excuse not to pick this game up. $19.99 – that’s nothing for such a good fun game.

Started work on a second tune for the new ‘and juliet’ album. Kinda different. Almost has a tune – shock horror. I’ve actually (finally) started to use the midi functionality in Sony’s (was Sonic Foundry’s) Acid. It’s not as bad as I first thought and I’m having a lot of fun messing around with some of the free soft synths. I think this album is going to be about 37 tracks of about 1-2 minute tunes. Andrea writes short and sweet. Sometimes I wish she’d write longer – but her words are so dense that you’d just loose the plot.

I’m out.

Nic.
